Reformation Sunday
October 25, 2026 – October 26, 2026

Today we celebrate Reformation Day that recognizes the actions of Martin Luther in 1517 when he nailed a treatise to the door of a church in Germany, forever changing the course of history.  Among other things, Luther argued that the Bible, not the Pope, was the central means to discern God’s word. Luther also maintained that salvation was granted by faith alone, not by good deeds and the sacraments. Click on this event to learn more.

All Hallows' Eve
October 31, 2026

All Hallows' Eve is a remembrance of the dead that occurs annually on the evening of 31 October. The name is a short form of All Hallows' Evening, meaning All Saints' Evening, as it is celebrated on the evening before All Saints Day, in the same way as Christmas Eve is the day before Christmas Day. Saints have historically been known as hallows, derived from the Old English word hālig and related to the German word heilig, meaning holy.

All Saints Sunday
November 1, 2026

Today we celebrate All Saints Sunday. In the Lutheran Church, we view all Christian believers as saints. We are made saints, or made holy, by what Jesus accomplished on the cross. Consequently, we use All Saints Day to remember all Christians, past and present, as holy in God’s eyes. We also take this day to remember the newly baptized as well as members, friends and family who entered the Church Triumphant since the last All Saints Day. Click on this event to learn more.
