Juneteenth

Juneteenth is short for “June Nineteenth”, which celebrates the enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas, the last remaining slave state. Juneteenth marks the day when federal troops arrived in Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the U.S. On 17 June 2021, it officially became a federal holiday. Click on this event to learn more.

Nominees are accepted in the Fall for a variety of alternating 2-year positions.

Mary Martha Quilters

The quilters group meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 9am in the Upper Building. Mary/Martha meets for fun and fellowship as we create beautiful quilts that are donated to benefit Lutheran World Relief and other charitable organizations. No prior quilting experience is needed! Mary Martha also made numerous face masks for the congregation to use during our worship services.

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, which proclaimed the independence of the United States from Great Britain. Sharing and Caring Food Drive

Our monthly food drive for Sharing & Caring, our community food bank, is held the first Sunday of every month. Bring canned and non-perishable food products to the lobby of Christian Life Center and place them on the collection cart. There is also a need for baby formula, toothpaste, shampoo, bar soap, and laundry detergent.

Vacation Bible School

Join us for another exciting youth Vacation Bible School 14-18 July from 5:30-8pm each evening (children 3-5y/o ends at 7pm). This year VBS is based on the Scuba Program, where children dive into a friendship with God, taking kids deep into an amazing undersea adventure as they experience the ever-flowing, neverending love of God. Feast of Mary Magdalene

Today is the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene. She was identified in the New Testament as a constant companion of Jesus during his ministry in Galilee and was one of his earliest followers. Mary witnessed the crucifixion and the interment of Jesus’ body in the tomb. She was also the first recorded witness of the Resurrection, as Jesus singled her out from all others to bring news of His transcendence over death to His disciples. Rummage Sale

Shop for great deals at our annual Rummage Sale on 1 & 2 August beginning at 7am. The congregation may begin bringing items on Sunday, 20 July. Please place donated items near the north wall of the CLC. Wait until the last week of July before bringing large items like furniture, which can be placed in the CLC Lobby. Set-up will begin after worship on 27 July. Volunteers are needed to ensure this event will again be successful. Come join the fun!
