Easter Sunday

Today we celebrate Easter Sunday. Easter Day concludes our Holy Week remembrances that started with Palm Sunday then continued with Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and finally Easter Sunday today.

Easter Day is the day of the resurrection, a joyous celebration of God’s victory over sin and death. Easter is the most important day of the church year. It is the day, after three days, that Jesus rose from the dead. The Bible states that Jesus “was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification” (Romans 4:25). Easter Sunday begins with the shouts of the redeemed, “Christ is Risen. He is Risen indeed.” The exceedingly painful story comes to the amazing joyous ending which truly never ends. It is our day of victory. Jesus said, “Because I live, you also will live” (John 14:19). We are forgiven, and that means we have the certainty of eternal life through Jesus.

“Whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
