All Hallows' Eve is a remembrance of the dead that occurs annually on the evening of 31 October. The name is a short form of All Hallows' Evening, meaning All Saints' Evening, as it is celebrated on the evening before All Saints Day, in the same way as Christmas Eve is the day before Christmas Day. Saints have historically been known as hallows, derived from the Old English word hālig and related to the German word heilig, meaning holy.
Today we celebrate All Saints Sunday. In the Lutheran Church, we view all Christian believers as saints. We are made saints, or made holy, by what Jesus accomplished on the cross. Consequently, we use All Saints Day to remember all Christians, past and present, as holy in God’s eyes. We also take this day to remember the newly baptized as well as members, friends and family who entered the Church Triumphant since the last All Saints Day. Click on this event to learn more.
Daylight Saving Time ends today at 2:00am. Remember to set your clocks back one hour. Click on this event to learn more about the history of daylight saving time.
Please continue to donate your used medicine bottles with labels removed that we then give to the PAWS program for their use filling medications for pets. Thank you for supporting our furry friends in the community.
Join us today for Sunday worship at 9:30am. Every Sunday we celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Sermons are also uploaded afterwards each week onto our website. The service includes hymns, Bible readings, a sermon, and a congregational prayer.
Our monthly food drive for Sharing & Caring, our community food bank, is held the first Sunday of every month. Bring canned and non-perishable food products to the lobby of Christian Life Center and place them on the collection cart. There is also a need for baby formula, toothpaste, shampoo, bar soap, and laundry detergent.
We are again collecting Lutheran World Relief (LWR) personal care Kits. For numerous years the Women's Organization has asked the congregation to support them in donating items for the LWR kits, and the response has been amazing. The LWR Collection Box is located in the lobby of the CLC. Click on this event to learn more and to see the list of items needed for each kit.
Come join us this morning around 10:45 in the Upper Building for another energizing Sunday School year. All are welcome. If you have any questions, please contact Karen P. Paper registration forms are located in the Christian Life Center, or click on this event for the registration link.
