The annual Crop Drop in the city of Destin will be held today from 8am until noon at the United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive in Destin. Crop Drop has been feeding thousands of needy families each year since 2009 with unsold fresh fruit and vegetables, and volunteers from our church assist this worthy endeavor. Family-size bags are loaded into various agency vehicles then transported to food pantries, homeless shelters, and church dispensaries across the panhandle.
Our annual Cold Night Sweatshirt Collection Program continues through 16 December. Each year Holy Trinity provides sweatshirts to homeless individuals at One Hopeful Place for their Christmas event, and our goal this year is to donate 75 sweatshirts. We are seeking Medium to X-Large crewneck or hooded sweatshirts, and a collection box is located in the lobby of the Christian Life Center.
Backpack Food Sunday is the 3rd Sunday of each month and provides weekend meals for needy children at Edwins Elementary School. Bring individually-packed nutritious food items to the lobby of the Christian Life Center. A specific shopping list is available at the church, and monetary donations are also welcome so food items can be purchased.
Today we celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion during our 8:15am and 11:00am services. We invite all baptized Christians who believe that our Lord is truly present in His Body and Blood to join us to receive the bread and wine. Children are invited to come forward for a blessing.
The Global Mission Gift Fair will be held today between 9am-2pm in the Christian Life Center. Lunch will be provided, and there will be also be a gift shop and bake shop, where you will find unique gifts and delicious goodies. Come join us, and invite your friends!
